My name is Cheryl, and I am a watercolorist. Originally from central Massachusetts, I grew up in a household full of talented artists and musicians who heavily influenced my own artistic journey. While attending high school, my teachers recognized my talent and potential, and encouraged me to skip study class to double up on art classes. During this time, I applied for and was accepted into the Massachusetts College of Art program for high school students looking to pursue a career in art.
After high school, I studied in the Commercial Art program at Worcester Technical Institute, and eventually returned back to school again in 1999 to earn my Associates Degree in Graphic Design, a career in which I've devoted over 20 years.
Throughout the years, I've dabbled in many different art mediums, but my heart and passion are with watercolor. I found I had a true passion and natural talent for it, and have committed myself to learning all I can about this wonderful art form.
My watercolors are more than just portraits of dogs and landscapes; they are portraits of memories. I strive to capture the essence of a place, the personality of a dog, and the feeling of a moment held close to my heart. Inspired by the nostalgic charm of New England, I paint the familiar scenes and cherished companions that resonate with warmth and comfort. Using the delicate medium of watercolor, I aim to create art that evokes emotion, sparks connection, and celebrates the beauty of everyday moments.
When asked whose works inspired me the most, I cite Norman Rockwell, Mary Whyte, and James Gurney as my biggest influences.
